Taking an Exam Online (OnVUE Online Proctored) vs Attending a Test Center

Test Center attendance(in person): you physically attend a location to take an exam. Taking an exam online (OnVUE): you take the exam from home / office with the Pearson OnVUE platform.  Tips for taking an OnVUE Online Proctored exam.

You must pass a system test before being admitted to an online exam. OnVUE is available nearly 24 hours in many locales, but be careful with AM/PM booking. Not all countries support OnVUE.

If you need help deciding which is right for you, click here. Ensure you understand the important rules associated with taking an online proctored exam by watching this short video: OnVue Rules.

How to Pay for Your Exam

Use Pearson to register and pay. Credit card payments are accepted except in certain countries: they accept Visa, American Express, MasterCard – If credit cards are not accepted in your country, arrange payment directly with the test center. Contact Pearson VUE Customer Service for payment alternatives and guidance. (more...)

If using a voucher, enter the code in the payment screen. The voucher must not have expired. Check the voucher terms and conditions – see below.

How to Reschedule or Cancel an Exam; How to Download Receipts, Invoices, and Score Reports

You can reschedule or cancel via your Pearson dashboard accessible by selecting Step 2 below. You must reschedule or cancel at least 48 hours before your scheduled appointment. Rescheduling or cancelling less than 48 hours before your exam, or missing your appointment, will result in forfeiting your exam fees. If you do not receive a confirmation email, log back into your Pearson VUE account to verify the status of your appointment (more...).

In your Pearson dashboard, you can also see options for score reports (exam results), invoices, and receipts (more...).

Your exam results will appear in your Pearson account shortly after the exam, and you’ll also receive an email confirmation. At test centers, a printed pass/fail report is usually provided within minutes; if printing isn’t possible, only the electronic version will be issued. A “pending” status means Pearson is still generating your score report, which may take a few hours.

Pearson sends your results to The Open Group within five business days. The Open Group will then review them and, if they meet certification requirements, email you within six business days to complete your certification. Processing may take longer if your results are selected for audit. You will not appear in the Directory of Certified Individuals until you receive this email and log in to complete the certification steps, which may include accepting a trademark license agreement. Once complete, you can download your certificate and badge.
